課程概述

This course focuses on introducing students to key topics in Management Mathematics such as: linear equations, matrix algebra, linear programming, financial mathematics, logic, sets and counting, Markov systems, and etc. This course also focuses on illustrating the relevance of mathematics to the real world, and on helping students develop a view of, and an understanding of, mathematical ideas and processes in preparation for the application of them in relevant fields.
 

課程目標
 (1) To motivate students while providing the background in the quantitative techniques necessary to better understand and appreciate fields related to information management;

(2) To lay the foundation for more advanced courses, such as statistics and operations research; and

(3) To make the principles and applications of management mathematics become a useful tool for students.
 
課程要求
 (1) Participation in this class is important. Readings should be done in a timely manner in order to participate in the class. Students are encouraged to participate in discussion during the class;

(2) During class discussions, student presentations, and in online environments always be respectful to everyone; listen carefully to other view points before responding and be open to ideas that may be different from your own; reply to everyone in a thoughtful and respectful manner; and

(3) It is strongly encouraged for students to work with each other in class to build a collaborative, supportive, and productive learning environment.
